'The old SNP is back and pressure is mounting on Nicola Sturgeon' It’s safe to say that the elections to the SNP National Executive held last week didn’t produce the outcome the leadership had been seeking, argues Kenny MacAskill in our opinion section today. The nationalist MP and former Scottish Justice Secretary says in no uncertain terms, "The old SNP’s back." Scotland's ruling party continues to be divided into Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond camps, and Mr MacAskill believes " it’s on independence where pressure will really mount" for the leadership. He writes: "As the UK lurches to disaster, pressure to make the election the mandate to hold a referendum irrespective of a Johnson veto or making the election itself a referendum is mounting." The health service has opened the application process to recruit new mobile testing unit operatives as part of its response to the coronavirus pandemic.
