The trip 'from Addis to Idol' has not changed John Foster, his local fans say

John Foster of Addis is an 18-year-old LSU freshman who is developing quite a following. He's not a football or baseball star, though. The West Baton Rouge native was voted into the final 10 on “American Idol” this week, and residents along the west bank of the Mississippi River have taken notice.

“His charm, his personality, his well-mannered politeness, it’s contagious," said Christy Fabre, who taught Foster in middle school typing class. "And I hope he inspires more kids to be the Southern gentleman that he is.”

Foster advanced Monday night after performing “I Told You So,” made famous by country music legend Randy Travis.

A $17.5 billion liquefied natural gas production and export facility in Calcasieu Parish is the largest foreign investment in Louisiana history, state officials say.
