Good afternoon on this sunny Friday! It's certainly been a busy day for our news teams so far with one main topic of discussion - the new government measures introduced in parts of Lancashire to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. Health Minister Matt Hancock's announcement last night certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons and confusion has been reigning for many. It's our job to make sense of it all for you so reporters are sitting down (via Zoom) today with representatives of the county council, police and public health to ask critical questions including - will it be the rest of Lancashire next? The news continues as always. Police have closed a car park to try and tackle anti-social behaviour at Preston's Docklands and patients at a GP surgery in Leyland are being reassured little will change for them when a new operator takes over. Meanwhile, in a wonderful community effort, a canal bridge in Ashton has been painted rainbow colours in honour of Preston's keyworkers and a Lancashire cheesemaker has scored a top accolade for its goat cheese. Please stay tuned into our live blog for all the latest today and enjoy today's short-lived heatwave. Temperatures of 27 degrees are expected so sunscreen at the ready! Many thanks as always for your support, if you would like to subscribe we would be grateful. Have a great Friday and a restful weekend. Nicola Adam, deputy editor lep.co.uk Twitter: @jabberingjourno |
