The Nashville Catalyst Fund has raised $76 million to address the city's affordable housing crisis by offering low-interest loans to support development. Gentry Investment Properties was the first recipient, using a $450,000 loan to renovate a quadplex in Madison, Tenn. "We could see over the course of 10 years that this fund, which is $75 million in total, could help preserve 3,000 or more affordable housing units, which is just a huge return on the city's investment," Catalyst Fund CEO Jim Gingrich says.
