The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Let's get you up to speed on all the biggest news.

The latest on Ida recovery

In East Baton Rouge Parish, all but a few unlucky homeowners had power back. But the storm was still causing disruptions: Ascension Parish schools aren't going to re-open today as hoped for, nor will two Baton Rouge public schools.

And hotels are still full of utility workers and other post-hurricane helpers, so it could be tough to get a hotel room around here for a while.

But communities closer to the coast are still nowhere near back to normal. And some are finding it difficult to get help.

Dissecting LSU's loss

Lots of people are wondering if Ed Orgeron and his team can get back on track after a season-opening loss to UCLA. Our sports staff breaks down what went wrong, and gives an update on what players won't be on the field Saturday.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
