Community Cars, the volunteer lift-giving service, is supporting the region’s Covid-19 Vaccination roll-out by providing transport to vaccination centres for older and disabled people without access to their own car, or who need support travelling.
View email online | | | | | Dec 18, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening The Prime Minister is saying that he cannot rule out a third lockdown across England after his counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland announced full lockdowns from Boxing Day. While Mr Johnson is still saying that he is lifting the restrictions over Christmas, there is mounting pressure for him to look again at the plans. None of us wants to change our plans at the last minute. And it may be that people just go ahead whatever is decided in the next few days. But while there has been a lot of talk recently about how the health services will not be able to cope with a third wave in January because it is traditionally the busiest time of year, there was an interesting case being put by one senior medic yesterday. He reasoned that if the NHS grinds to a halt, that would likely mean that the entire vaccination programme would also come to a halt. That is a sobering thought. If we are pinning our hopes on this jab to get us out of lockdown, too much mixing over Christmas might put us back into restrictions for a much longer period.
