Hello, Royal Watchers!
Today we have something special for you: A Watching the Royals reader named Alexandra, a librarian who also runs the blog Royal Reading Room, submitted a book recommendation in preparation for season four of "The Crown." Please check it out below. Thank you so much for being a loyal reader and fan, Alexandra!
"Season 4 of 'The Crown' cannot stream soon enough for those of us who love the Netflix show. While waiting, you can brush up on the factual history of the Royal Family during the 1980s. Of course, Princess Diana is the highly anticipated Royal Family member being featured this season.
There is no shortage of materials focusing on the late Princess of Wales but they vary in reliability. For books, this librarian recommends starting with Andrew Morton’s 'Diana: Her True Story — In Her Own Words,' which Diana famously contributed to.
While originally published in 1992 as 'Diana: Her True Story,' the revised edition, 'Diana: Her True Story — In Her Own Words' was published in 1997, and a 25th anniversary edition was published in 2017.
Watching videos of events, interviews, and speeches is an excellent way to relive some iconic moments, including Diana and Prince Charles' 1981 royal wedding.
Documentaries are another resource for archival video footage and historical commentary, such as 'Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy,' which premiered in 2017 with the involvement of her sons Prince William and Prince Harry."
Have a great weekend and stay safe, Royal Watchers 👑👑 |

Ever wanted to work for Queen Elizabeth? Well, now's the perfect time to dust off that resume.
The Royal Family's website recently posted two job listings for a cleaner and a housekeeping assistant.
Both roles are to be based at Windsor Castle (which means you can totally check out where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married) and are permanent positions.
Although the salaries aren't enough to live like a royal, the experience of working for the Queen is priceless. |
