Hi John! Whether you are buying precious metals, mining stocks or cryptocurrencies, it is important to consider the timing of your purchases. This is an often overlooked detail, but it can be very important to your cost basis and reduce your stress levels when buying. 'Tranche' is a French word for slice and refers to pieces or portions of something. In this case, we are talking about buying stocks, bullion or cryptocurrencies in tranches in order to make sure that you don't go 'all in' at the wrong moment just before a correction. Prices for precious metals and cryptocurrencies are very volatile and nearly impossible to predict in the short term. Furthermore, studies show that over time you will usually end up with a lower cost basis by spacing out your purchases into tranches. If you have $60,000 that you want to invest, you might consider splitting up your purchases into monthly tranches. Buy $20,000 worth now, $20,000 worth in one month and the final $20,000 worth the following month. Furthermore, you may consider making regular purchases of a set amount each month in order to continue building your position. As a long-term cryptocurrency bull, I use this strategy.
