As Chanukah approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on a year of unparalleled challenges for Israel. Over the past months, our nation has faced unrelenting threats—from the rockets of Hamas in Gaza to Hezbollah’s attacks in the North, and most recently, the instability brought on by the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria. The toll has been devastating. Hundreds of soldiers and civilians have lost their lives, families have been shattered, and entire communities uprooted. Yet, in the face of these trials, the spirit of Israel continues to shine, much like the flickering flames of the menorah during Chanukah—a symbol of hope and perseverance even in the darkest of times. Zaka Tel-Aviv has stood unwaveringly during these difficult months, responding to crises across the country. From tending to those affected by terror attacks and missile strikes to honoring the memory of the fallen, Zaka’s volunteers have carried out their mission with unparalleled dedication and care. This year, as we light the candles of Chanukah, we are reminded of the holiday’s message—the triumph of light over darkness, of courage over fear. That same light is what Zaka brings to Israel every day through its lifesaving work. This Chanukah, we ask you to help us keep that light burning. Your support enables Zaka to continue providing critical assistance, offering solace to grieving families, and ensuring the people of Israel feel supported during these trying times. |
