The Front Page: With Jameis out, who will be the next man up for the Saints?

By Chad Calder | Staff writer

NEXT MAN UP: With news that Jameis Winston will be out for the season after tearing his ACL in the first half of yesterday's game against the Buccaneers, the Saints — and their fans — now cast an eye toward his understudies, which include Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian (and no, you-know-who will apparently not be making a comeback).  Hill is recovering from a concussion, and our Rod Walker has a look at Siemian's performance on Sunday.

UNDECIDED AND DIVIDED: With decision day less than two weeks, many New Orleans voters are ... undecided, at least when it comes to a hotly contested at-large seat on the City Council. A new UNO poll finds that almost 40% of voters have not decided on a candidate in the race dominated by State Sen. JP Morrell and Council member Kristin Gisleson Palmer. The poll also shows a racially polarized electorate in that race and the race for mayor.

CONTROVERSIAL SCHOLARSHIPS: The former LSU Health Sciences Center chancellor, who resigned amid controversy over pay raises given to those in his inner circle, is back in the news with this story about his three Texas grandchildren getting about $93,000 in scholarship to attend LSU. Larry Hollier always earned in the high six figures while working in New Orleans. The boys' mother said the three of them applied and got the scholarships, fair and square.

Thanks for starting your day with us today.
