The Front Page: Saints beaten handily by Falcons Sunday, then lose nail-biter in same game

By Chad Calder | Staff writer

COMEBACK FALLS SHORT: After dropping passes and racking up penalties for three quarters Sunday, the New Orleans Saints rallied from an 18-point deficit to ... lose to the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints took a 1 point lead with about a minute left before their hated NFC South rival staged a comeback of their own with a long completion and a walk-off field goal. Blah. You'll find all of our Saints coverage here.

INTERSTATE SHOOTINGS: If it seems like you've heard of lots of shootings on the interstates and elevated highways in New Orleans, it's not just you. This particular breed of shooting has risen exponentially in the last few years, with the 26 that have already occurred this year marking a fivefold increase over highway shootings three years ago. Reporters Ramon Vargas and Jeff Adelson have a look at what may be fueling the increase, and we've mapped out where they have occurred.

SKIRTING SUPPLY CHAIN WOES: As photos of cargo vessels stacking up at ports around the world have proliferated in the last few weeks, there have been no such sights around the Port of Greater New Orleans. Find out what has kept the city's port from being swept up in the supply chain fiasco that has plagued so many others around the world.

Thanks for starting your day with us. Keep up with the news all day on NOLA.com.
