Dear Eagles around the globe, it has been a while since we sent you the last edition of our little newsletter. Meanwhile, the 2016/17 Bundesliga season has ended. Unfortunately, Eintracht Frankfurt were not able to repeat the successful first half of the season. Struck by injuries and due to a low scoring record, the Eagles finished in 11th place. Admittedly, this is an outcome no one would have hoped for after the great first leg of the season, but given last yearâs relegation battle, the 11th spot is still a decent ranking.
Besides, the best is yet to come. After defeating Borussia Mönchengladbach on penalties, Eintracht made it to this yearâs DFB-Pokal final. In case you do not know this: The DFB-Pokal is the German cup competition. The final takes place in Berlinâs Olympia Stadium on 27 May 2017 at 20:00 CET. Eintrachtâs opponents are Borussia Dortmund, who have reached the DFB Cup finals for the fourth time in a row following a 3-2 away victory over Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München. It is needless to say that our newsletter contains information on the upcoming match which provides the chance for Eintracht to win their first title after the DFB-Pokal victory in 1988. The team has already arrived in Germany's capital. Tens of thousands of Eintracht fans will follow. We are so excited! You can find the latest news on Eintracht and their journey to Berlin in our newsroom.
Let us keep our fingers crossed that the Eagles will win the title.
As always, keep on following Frankfurt â over land and sea! Sincerely yours, The English Eintracht Internet Team
