| | Maryland's job market milestones Well, well, well, folks. Guess who's strutting its stuff and making waves in the job market? That's right, it's our good ol' Maryland! According to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland is like that superhero who just swooped in and claimed the title of the third-fastest-growing state in the U.S. In August, Maryland went all out and added a whopping 12,400 jobs — the kind of number we haven't seen since the summer of 2022, according to the state's Department of Labor. And hold onto your hats, because the state's unemployment rate has plummeted to 1.7%. That's seven straight months of record-setting low unemployment, folks! Now, let's give a round of applause to the star of the show: the professional and business services sector, which the state said spearheaded the growth with 6,300 jobs. Maryland is clearly the place to be for business and professional services, attracting talent from every corner. The manufacturing and "other services" sectors added 400 and 300 jobs, respectively. That's pretty cool and I can't help but think about companies local to Baltimore that might have contributed to that, like Early Charm, FabPro and Made in Baltimore. On Oct. 3, the Maryland Manufacturing Innovation Conference returns and will take place at the University of Maryland. Maryland is on fire in the job market, it seems. Keep your eyes on the state and especially Baltimore. I don't think they'll be slowing down anytime soon. — Technical.ly reporter Alanah Nichole Davis ([email protected]) | | | | By "There is a better way to bring artificial intelligence into workplaces," this sociologist who works with robotic spacecraft teams writes.
