The University of Michiganâs Board of Regents passed the administrationâs 2020-21 budget in a 5-2 vote during a special meeting June 29, days after a 4-4 vote at their June 25 meeting had appeared to sink proposed increases in tuition and fees.

The approved budget includes a 1.9 percent increase in tuition for the Ann Arbor campus; a 3.9 percent increase for UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn; a 1.9 percent increase in room and board fees and a $50 COVID-19 student fee.

This week, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approve a new budget, various University usernames and passwords were leaked and the University modified fall semester application requirements.

University usernames, passwords used on third-party sites exposed, no University data breach

A list of University of Michigan usernames and passwords making rounds in the University community Friday is a compilation of older, previously published lists from third-party data breaches, such as Chegg, Zynga, LinkedIn and others, according to an Information and Technology Services advisory.

No U-M systems or accounts were breached, but a large number of U-M email addresses were included in the list. ITS will reset a small number of passwords included on the list and will contact owners of those accounts to let them know what happened, the advisory said.

'U' to modify fall application requirements and test score updates

The University of Michigan has updated
various requirements for the fall application process, including test score, resume and letter of recommendation requirements, according to the admissions website.

Like in previous years, SAT or ACT test scores are required. Students who are unable to sit and submit a test by the deadline, however, can apply under a âtest flexibleâ option and are encouraged to submit any other standardized test, such as PSAT, PLAN, Pre-ACT or AP scores.

In the absence of restrictions, students crowd Ann Arbor restaurants and bars

Despite guidelines put into place by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as a part of Michiganâs plan to reopen, many students are crowding bars and restaurants in Ann Arbor.

Coalition to Elect Students to the Board of Regents holds first meeting

Over 40 University of Michigan students met virtually Tuesday night to discuss the possibility of student representation and voting rights on the Universityâs Board of Regents.
