Gearing up Verstappen v Hamilton showdown
It doesn’t get better than this: A Formula 1 showdown between two brilliant drivers, in powerhouse teams that have multiple world titles to their names. On track, and off it, there’s been an underlying bitterness that can only exist between two factions striving to beat the other to be the best. The buildup in Abu Dhabi kicked off on Thursday as Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were sat down together in front of the world’s press – and basically batted off every question that came their way. Now is not the time to show any weakness, and that includes taking the bait of a loaded question. However, Max did reiterate what he said after last week’s Saudi Arabia race, saying “clearly for me there are different rules compared to some other drivers out there”. Let’s just hope this title is decided on the track in a fair and sporting manner. It would do the sport a great disservice if it was settled in any other way.
