Did you know ... ?The National Inventors Hall of Fame is full of colorful characters. One immortalized inventor was a heartthrob of the 1940s who helped develop a radio guidance system that served the Allies in World War II. Who, you ask? Hedy Lamarr. At the height of her Hollywood career, Lamarr helped develop the spread spectrum, which creates a wireless signal that hops from frequency to frequency. Basically, it's impossible to track or jam. Although she was honored with the Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, she never made money from any of her inventions. |
