Last year, the godfather of AI retired from his gig at Google and began to speak out about the dangerous implications of the technology he helped to develop. This year, a committee of Nobel brainiacs gave Hinton’s historical import the ultimate seal of approval. He shared the Nobel Prize for physics, in part for his work developing backpropagation—the method that allows neural networks to learn. |
