With the logistics company set to bring 1,000+ new jobs to Baton Rouge at $15 an hour, Baton Rouge government agencies fear they could be about to lose a bunch of employees. Last night, the parish parks system decided to give a bunch of its workers a raise and a bunch of other workers a one-time pay bump. Here are all the details. A plan to re-assign more than 200 employees throughout the East Baton Rouge school system has drawn growing resistance from some parents and teachers. But yesterday, a group of Black community organizations held a press conference supporting the move; they point to a shortage of experienced teachers in many majority-Black schools. The school board is taking up the issue tonight, and we're expecting controversy, so stay tuned.
