Left fatherless at an early age, and inspired by the saints he emulated, Charbel was drawn to a life of solitude and prayer. Practicing severe asceticism, and spending his final 23 years as a solitary hermit, Charbel dedicated himself fully to sharing, peace, humility and self-giving. His unique gift of holiness united both Christians and Muslims, and his reputation as a healer and miracle worker continues to impact lives today.
