Despite a 10-year low for worldwide M&A activity profit per equity partner at the top firms grew by 12.4%, as they pruned their equity ranks and closed offices.

They have starkly different backgrounds. But both firms have succeeded in ways that other firms have not when breaking into significant foreign markets. Leaders at both firms explain how.
