Hello,

Monday lunchtime is when we round-up the main weekend headlines for you.

It was a weekend of protest with rail workers on strike and scores of people gathering in Preston’s Flag Market on Saturday to make their voices heard about the rising cost of living.

'Enough Is Enough' was a national day of action in more than 50 towns and cities across the UK in the largest wave of simultaneous protests seen in Britain for many years.

On the railways, there was an eerie silence at Preston station as members of four unions staged a 24-hour walkout.

Elsewhere, the deputy leader of Preston City Council has accused Preston Bus of putting its prices up during a period when many of its timetables are “meaningless”.

A range of fares rose on the firm’s services on Sunday, with the company saying that it is sorry for the hikes, which it blamed on fuel and staffing costs now being “much higher than at the start of the year”.

There was also a lot of interest in our round-up of the 11 best and highest achieving primary schools in Lancashire according to The Sunday Times’ Parent Power Schools Guide.

And finally, as ever, there’s the best of the PNE action as a bumper away following travelled up to Sunderland for yet another goalless draw…

Thanks for reading,

Adam
