According to researchers, science has a gender bias problem. And parasitic worms are proof of it.
While most people agree that everyone should be treated equally regardless of gender, we know that’s not how it always works out. Now, scientists are warning that not enough women are represented when it comes to naming species. After scouring through research articles on new species of bloodsucking works, researchers discovered that only 19% of them represented women when named after eminent scientists.
While that certainly sounds unfair, using parasitic creepy-crawlies to make the point seems a little odd.
Here’s what scientists are suggesting should be done to remedy the problem. |

There’s nothing quite as annoying as a slow laptop. Even the newest ones can sometimes lag behind, making your workday even more stressful. Whatever the cause, a sluggish laptop is the last thing you need when you're attempting to get work done. After all, a busy day typically necessitates the simultaneous use of several files, programs, and tabs, causing your laptop to struggle to keep up with your workload.
For most laptops, sluggishness has nothing to do with hardware. In most cases, software glitches, outdated drivers, and just trying to do too much at once can overwhelm even the nicest computer.
But there are things you can do to help speed it up without taking it to the nearest computer repair shop.

Back in October of 2019, Daryl Morey made a controversial tweet supporting Hong Kong protesters. That one tweet cost the league and owners hundreds of millions of dollars. And it resulted in an almost three-year ban for the NBA on state-run Chinese TV. Today, ESPN published a report that shows just how entangled NBA owners are with the Chinese. As it turns out, 40 principal owners have a combined $10,000,000,000 tied up in Chinese investments. And that’s not all we learned. |
Sunscreen should be the one skincare product you keep on hand at all times. Sunscreen is your best defense against the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, and regular use reduces your chances of acquiring skin cancer, the most frequent cancer in the United States. It also offers other advantages, like minimizing unpleasant sunburns and preventing early symptoms of aging like wrinkles, sunspots, and skin laxity. If you've had bad experiences with sunscreen in the past — think gloppy lotions that are difficult to rub in, strange odors, or streaky white casts that don't match your skin tone - set those ideas aside. Even in the previous decade, the world of SPF has advanced significantly, and improved formulations that feel fantastic on your skin while protecting it abound. Dermatologists provide their recommendations for the best sunscreen. |
Yet another leak has given us more details about the upcoming Apple Watch 8, and this time it’s about a pretty major design change. According to the leak, the big change is a flat edge design. This has been rumored before and eventually shut down, but now those rumors are gaining steam again and they appear to be more substantial this time around. “Heard from source today that there is a flat front glass display for Apple Watch display,” the leaker posted on Twitter. Another leaker quickly retweeted and said they had inside info to confirm the same. So, which two leakers are calling for the new design, and are they credible enough to believe? |
