VIDEO: Lubbock Fire Rescue is navigating a new kind of fire in Lubbock, one that is currently burning underground. The Yellow House River Fire began a week ago when LFR received numerous 911 reports of a field on fire near the intersection of East 50th Street & East Loop 289. The site continues to exhibit smoke, as this field was an old dumpsite for debris from the 1970 tornado in Lubbock, Texas and underground materials continue to burn. Deputy Chief Nick Wilson with LFR said he has never seen anything like it in his 26 years at the department. Wilson said the fire continues to burn underground on old debris buried under a shallow layer of soil. "We believe that it probably goes anywhere from 10 possibly 20 feet deep, a lot of the materials that were down there," Wilson said.

PHOTOS: At least 12 families in Southeast Texas were left without a home after a huge blaze ravaged their apartment complex. Conroe firefighters responded to an apartment fire at 1840 Longmire Rd. on Aug. 25, according to the Conroe Fire Department's Facebook page. The firefighters reported to the scene at approximately 7:17 p.m., quickly jumping into action to extinguish the fire. The fire was deemed under control at approximately 8:09 p.m. According to the Conroe Fire Department's Facebook page, the fire was believed to have started on a ground-level patio before spreading to the building's attic. Although the building's interior living spaces were protected by fire sprinklers, sprinklers were not present on exterior balcony/patio spaces per the building's code requirements at the time of the building's construction.

Multiple agencies, including Amarillo Fire Department Hazmat Units, responded to a hazmat situation at Cacique Cheese, located at 8501 S Georgia Street. Officials say that the hazmat situation was due to a chlorine leak. According to the Amarillo Fire Department, two people were evacuated from the roof of the building. It is unknown if they were exposed to the chlorine. Seven people were transported to local hospitals. Personnel have been safely evacuated from the building and all have been accounted for. According to the Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management, the situation is under control and there is no danger to neighboring residents. Officials say environmental readings are now showing permissible levels both inside and outside of the facility.

Fire crews were at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Harlingen where a Tesla Cybertruck caught fire. The crash took place at 4:45 p.m. between Sam's Club and Bass Pro Shop, off of Spur 54 and Bass Pro Drive, when a Cybertruck crashed into a fire hydrant. Assistant Fire Chief Ruben Balboa with the Harlingen Police Department said the Cybertruck's battery ignited after the water from the fire hydrant soaked it. Witnesses say that while the flames and gasses were not visible, the smell of the battery was strongly penetrating the air in the area. First responders say they thought they had extinguished the flames coming from the Cybertruck, but shortly after stopping the water flow onto the battery, the fire began again. Authorities have not disclosed if any injuries resulted from the accident — only that a Cybertruck was involved.

Plumes of smoke filled the night sky after a massive barge caught fire overnight Tuesday. The smell of smoke continues to linger in Queens where the fire broke out. Officials say they were able to put out the flames at the Sims Metal Facility in just under two hours. The video of the scene shows the intensity of the flames, which looked like a large ball of fire with heavy smoke rising and billowing into the air. A large amount of recycled metal apparently caught fire on the barge. Workers jumped into action and used an excavator in an attempt to smother the flames. Smoke could be seen from quite a distance as the barge burned for hours spewing smoke over heavily populated neighborhoods in Long Island City and Sunnyside, Queens. There were also reports of smoke in Brooklyn.

PHOTOS: New recruits with the Oklahoma City Fire Department are having their sweat tested. NMotion, a sports and human performance center based out of Norman, is partnering with the department to help firefighters understand their sweat composition. It will help optimize hydration and maintain peak performance in high-temperature environments. "We've had dehydration issues in the past for past recruit classes. I want to get ahead of it, mitigate all kinds of hydration issues and I think this is the best way to do it," said Damon Glass, Athletic Trainer for the Oklahoma City Fire Department. "I've done sports medicine for 25 years. I see a lot of athletes just drink water and they get cramps. They don't know how to put sodium, potassium and magnesium back in their system. This is going to get us a better idea."

PHOTOS: Saturday marked the 50th anniversary of the infamous 1974 Main Avenue Fire in downtown Durango that destroyed six buildings and killed two first responders. The tragic event lives in the minds of Durango's first responders and helped evolve Durango Fire Protection District's downtown fire suppression tactics. At 3:50 a.m. Aug. 24, 1974, a call alerted the Durango Fire Department that Herb Williams Lumber Co. near Camino del Rio was on fire. At 3:55 a.m., another call came in saying The West Building, on East Second Avenue, was also on fire. But when the Durango Fire Department arrived, firefighters realized both callers were mistaken and the smoke was coming from a fire in the 800 block of Main Avenue that would destroy six historic buildings.

VIDEO: Firefighters are warning parents after a Cocomelon children's book caused a minivan fire in North Carolina. The George Hildebran Fire & Rescue Department said Sunday that a child's car seat caught fire soon after the child had gotten out. After the flames were put out, the Fire Marshal's Office determined that the fire was started by a "button battery" inside a children's book that was left underneath the seat. Photos of the fire damage showed the padding of the car seat burned, along with some of the plastic melted. The fire department shared a photo of the book they believe caused the fire. It is a Cocomelon book titled "JJ's Potty Time" that makes sounds. While firefighters did not specifically say what type of battery was involved, most button batteries are made with lithium.
