3 Fort Worth firefighters injured while battling house fire VIDEO/PHOTOS: Three firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Fort Worth. The fire happened Monday afternoon in the 1200 block of East Cannon Street. When crews arrived at the scene, they found a two-story home with fire coming out of the roof. Two firefighters had to bail out of a second-story window. Those two firefighters and one additional firefighter were hurt in the fire. All three were taken to Parkland Hospital. One of the firefighters was in serious condition but is expected to recover. The other two were released from the hospital and are recovering at home. The cause of the fire is under investigation. KDFW-TV FOX 4 DALLAS Firefighters control fire at Smith County restaurant There was a fire on Monday evening at a popular Smith County restaurant. The fire was reported at the Noonday Blue Store on Hwy 155, according to Smith County Emergency Services District 2 on Facebook. They report that 13 firefighters responded to a structure fire by the Noonday Blue Store. Since firefighters were close and out of the station in less than 90 seconds, the ESD reports, they were able to contain the fire to one side of the building. No injuries were reported. The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office is conducting the investigation to determine the cause of the fire. KLTV ABC 7 TYLER Abandoned building in north Austin catches fire amid community concerns An abandoned building in the 900 block of Old Koenig Lane, near the intersection of West Koenig Lane and North Lamar Boulevard, caught fire late on Monday, according to the Austin Fire Department. AFD said fire crews extinguished the fire with minimal extension to the structure, and added there were no injuries. Multiple fires have been located at this address recently, AFD said on social media. This comes after KXAN previously reported on Monday neighbors near the abandoned building reported that the area was unsafe due to visible illicit drug activity in and around the property. There is no current timeline from the city as to when the abandoned building will be torn down. KXAN-TV NBC 36 AUSTIN Fireworks sales begin in Texas; Bexar County Fire Marshal's office promotes safe disposal campaign Fireworks can be legally sold in Texas starting Monday, kicking off celebrations for the Fourth of July. However, the Bexar County Fire Marshal's office wants to remind residents of the importance of safe fireworks disposal to prevent accidents and property damage. Last year alone, Bexar County received 49 firework-related emergency calls, resulting in over $200,000 in damages. To address this concern, the Fire Marshal's office is launching their "Designate a Douser Campaign." As part of this campaign, firefighters will be demonstrating the proper way to extinguish fireworks before throwing them away. This will help residents dispose of fireworks safely and reduce the risk of fires. WOAI-TV NBC/CW 4 SAN ANTONIO PREVIOUS STATE NEWS |

Evesham Police Chief Walt Miller detailed the events leading up to the rescue in a news release where he applauded the swift work of Officer Kevin Long, Evesham Fire-Rescue Quint 2235 and other emergency responders. Long was the first person to arrive at the fire on the 1800 block of Sagemore Drive after the department received an emergency call at around 4 p.m. The department released Long's body camera footage showing the severity of the fire and the panic he and the residents faced as deep clouds of smog engulfed the home. "I've got smoky conditions, smoky conditions," Long can be heard saying while running up to the home, which had five adjoining apartment units attached. KYW-TV CBS 3 PHILADELPHIA ‘Demoralizing': Firefighters' vehicles damaged during Celtics parade in Boston VIDEO: On a day the city came together to celebrate, Boston firefighters who work at the Back Bay station found little to cheer about after their cars were damaged and vandalized at Friday's Celtics parade. "Pretty demoralizing and just frustrating and disappointing," said Sam Dillon, president of Boston Firefighters Local 718. "They worked the parade all day, they get back to the fire house and they found their personal vehicles had been damaged and vandalized." Photos taken by the union show dozens of fans standing and sitting on these vehicles while the parade passed by on Friday. Other pictures show those same vehicles with damage to their hoods, roofs buckled in, and in one case, an apparent apology left on one vehicle. "If you are truly sorry, reach out, make this right, and everyone can go their separate ways," Dillon said. NECN Everyday Heroes: Central Pennsylvania fire departments launch recruitment campaign VIDEO: To help address the critical shortage of volunteer firefighters, Clearfield, Cambria and Indiana County fire departments are teaming up to launch a campaign.
