PHOTOS: A pickup truck exploded after catching fire at the gas pump at the Cefco in Claude. The Claude Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at about 7:58 p.m. on Sunday. A pickup truck and a gas pump were on fire at the Cefco. The driver said he turned off his truck and went into the store. Meanwhile, the person parked at the next pump saw flames under the truck. After the other vehicles were moved out of the way, the truck exploded. The driver was "shaken but ok," according to Captain Alex Sharon with Claude VFD. "It could have been a lot worse," Sharon said. No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

VIDEO: A new state-of-the-art vehicle is set to enhance the Laredo Fire Department's ability to respond to emergencies. On Monday morning, July 29, the department held a press conference to announce the addition of a new aerial fire truck, which will aid in challenging rescue operations. Chief Guillermo Heard of the Laredo Fire Department spoke about the significance of the new truck. "It's a new truck that we just put into service. It's a ladder truck. We only have four throughout the city. The ladder trucks have a specific function where they do rescue operations and they provide water flow to bigger fires," he said. The multi-million-dollar vehicle features a ladder that can reach up to 110 feet, enhanced water pumping capacity, and improved mobility for navigating narrow streets and rough terrain.

At least one person has been reported injured after a home caught on fire early Tuesday morning. According to officials on the scene, the incident began at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Belvedere Blvd and N. Parkdale Drive. Officials say that the homeowner sustained minor burn injuries and is currently being treated at a hospital. Nobody else was home at the time of the incident. Tyler police were called to the scene to help redirect traffic and were advising residents to avoid the area.

VIDEO: Country singer Kevin Fowler entertained fans in Wichita Falls and helped raise money for North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma volunteer fire departments in the process. Fowler, who is best known for his hit, "Beer, Bait & Ammo" put on a show at the Warehouse. He teamed up with the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation (WFACF) for the fundraiser, which benefits 24 local departments. "The thing about these volunteers is, and I hope everybody realizes this when a fire breaks out, these volunteers don't look at county lines, they don't look at city lines, they go where they are needed," said Leslie Schaffner, WFACF President. "So giving to a fund like this helps fund all the departments that support fire protection all across the region." The foundation has raised $2.8 million for local volunteer fire departments since 2006.

VIDEOS: A dramatic video 8 News Now obtained captures a person dangling out of the second-floor window of an apartment building that was on fire. The fire happened on Sunday night in the 3900 block of Spencer Street at the Riverbend Village Apartments near Flamingo Road. According to the American Red Cross, Sunday's deadly fire displaced 19 residents but that number could rise. The video 8 News Now obtained showed a person with one leg out the second-story window as flames blocked off the exits. Out of desperation to escape, the person jumped from the window and landed on a bush. A minute later, another person was seen on video running out of the building covered in flames. They then dropped to the ground and quickly got back up with the flames extinguished.

VIDEO: It's been five months since three first responders were killed in the line of duty in Burnsville. Police officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, along with firefighter and medic Adam Finseth, were shot as they responded to a 911 call for help on Feb. 18. There are reminders everywhere at Burnsville police headquarters; in hallways and offices; and even the garage. At Fire Station 1, there is a lone picture of Finseth on the Memorial Wall. He's the first and only city firefighter ever killed on the job. "Grief doesn't end, certainly not quickly," said Burnsville Police Deputy Chief Matt Smith. "People are still grieving, and so we're still taking care of each other and making sure everyone is OK." Smith says the best way he and his colleagues honor the fallen is getting to work, and they're doing that thanks to big assists from the department's growing list of mental health resources.

VIDEO: A pair of bills recently signed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer seek to help address the EMS Staffing Crisis. HB-4613 and HB-4614 stretch "temporary licenses" for medical first responders from 120 days to a year and allow them to work on ambulances as long as they're supervised. Genesee County has been struggling especially during the shortage. First responders and local officials said this might be a helpful shot in the arm, but added that the state still needs to address the factors that are discouraging people from entering the field in the first place. Kyle Ward, an EMT in the Genesee County Area, is cautiously optimistic. The new policies allow the state to grant one-year temporary licenses to trainees who've completed everything but their exams.
