Phoebe Bridgers talks Eric Clapton, a big music quiz, and Custard are on Rage
Headlines can be evil. This week, I wrote one about Phoebe Bridgers' strong feelings towards Eric Clapton. It was not a beat up, she made her position on the guitarist very clear in the interview (and on her album). But it felt like her stunning music and important thoughts on equality was lost in the noise. It became an excuse for people to attack her comments without bothering to read why she made them. Could I have done better? Perhaps. I could have not mentioned Clapton at all. But it wouldn't have been true to the story. I'll reconsider next time. For now, I implore you to please read articles – not just headlines – if you feel the need to comment on them. There's only so much we can get across in a few words and often so much more to the story. |
