In a major setback to the Asian expansion roadmap for both Telstra and new CEO Andrew Penn, Australia’s dominant telco and the giant San Miguel Corporation have shelved a US$1 billion investment plan in a Philippines mobile network.


NEC Australia and Microsoft have formed a development partnership Microsoft’s Azure Internet of Things program. Under the deal, the two tech giants will co-develop IoT solutions for clients in vertical markets including manufacturing, retail, health and transport using Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform and Azure IoT Suite.

Former NSA contractor and whistleblower Edward Snowden has come out swinging against US President Barack Obama after the latter, referring to the ongoing spat between Apple and the FBI, urged Americans not to adopt absolutist positions on privacy and security.
