LEFT FOR DEAD: Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man they say shot two teenage girls and left them to die in a remote tract of Bayou Sauvage in eastern New Orleans. The girls, ages 14 and 15, were taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police arrested the suspect at his home near Slidell. FAMILIAR FOUR: The former home of the Metry Café & Bar, a longtime haunt in Old Metairie, is being transformed into Parish Line Bistro Bar, with what is touted as an upscale, casual atmosphere, open-air rooftop dining and a menu from a veteran Emeril’s restaurant chef. The partnership developing the new venture consists of four familiar local names from the NFL, the gaming industry, the dining industry and business. CURSED: For the third consecutive year, the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience has been canceled. But unlike last year's cancellation, this year's announcement, on Friday, made no promises about Voodoo ever returning, casting the future of the festival in doubt. Welcome to the weekend.
