For a long time, the rule at tight end was you either paid up for one of the elite options or you took a late pick and either hoped for the best or streamed the position. But 2019 was a bit of an outlier in that regard -- 10 different tight ends averaged at least 12 PPR points per game, something only six did in 2018. And now, we've got a whole bunch of exciting young tight ends ready to take a step forward, which threatens to make tight end (*gasp*) legitimately deep.
But I've heard that before, and I know you have, too. Maybe this year will be different, but it's worth remaining skeptical and examining the evidence, and that's exactly what we're doing as we preview the tight end position today on CBS Fantasy. We've got the Fantasy Football Today team's thoughts on the state of the position, Heath Cummings' comprehensive preview of the position, and Dave Richard's tiers and draft strategies, plus a breakdown of the chances those much-hyped breakout candidates actually hit.
If tight end really is deep in 2020, it could have huge ramifications for how your season plays out, so you'll need answers. We've got them.
