The Lunch Line: Taysom Hill's big game. And Oktoberfest returns

By Bob Warren

Hybrid model: Saints fans experienced something over the summer that they hadn’t in a very long time – a quarterback battle. In the end, the nod went to Jameis Winston over Taysom Hill. Hill says it was a disappointment, but three games into the season, it looks like he's ready to resume the hybrid, Swiss Army knife role that has made him a favorite among coaches and fans.

Speaking of our favorite teams. . . get ready for a deep dive into the future of the Saints and Pelicans coming this week. Owner Gayle Benson and team execs sat down with us to talk. Starts Wednesday.

Small community, big damage: Nearly a month after Hurricane Ida, recovery is moving at a snail’s pace for some folks along Bayou Segnette in Jefferson Parish. Ida’s wind and water teamed up for a terrible one-two punch, our Halle Parker reports, and the power’s still out.

Chicken Dance time: Oktoberfest is upon us. And it'll be back at Deutches Haus in New Orleans for the first time in a couple of years. Our resident food guy Ian McNulty caught up with the event organizers for a look at this year's edition.

This old house: And how about this for a lead-in: Booze, pizza, Bourbon Street and the Battle of New Orleans. You'll wanna check out the latest in Mike Scott's series of historic buildings.

Thanks for taking a break with the Lunch Line today.
