There is much to be said about the importance of good work ethic. When people pour themselves into tasks, it can indicate strength or discipline. When they go the extra mile, they may be praised for their commitment. But can there be too much of a good thing? Is it possible that burnout is inevitable and too costly?
One of the hardest parts of ministry is the way it can take over our lives. And in some cases, it causes burnout that costs more than we ever imagined. “I Was a Pastor’s Wife. Suicide Made Me a Pastor’s Widow" is the powerful and important testimony of Kayla Stoecklein, a woman who lost her husband to suicide. It’s no secret that many are struggling with mental and emotional unhealth, and bringing it into the light may be the wake up call we need. Take care of your loved ones, but also make sure they take care of themselves.
