Official Dates Announced for 2028 Olympic Games In Los Angeles

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti appeared together in the Southern California city on Monday to announce the official dates of the 2028 Olympic Games. When the Games come to Los Angeles for the third time (1932/1984), they will run from July 14 through July 30. These dates are a week earlier than what was suggested in the bid book submitted by L.A. 2028.

Consortium on Female Sport Demand NCAA and Penn Withdraw Name of Lia Thomas For NCAA Woman of the Year Award

The Consortium on Female Sport, which is an international campaign group that advocates for the preservation of the female sports category, has released a statement calling for the NCAA and the University of Pennsylvania to withdraw the nomination of Lia Thomas for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Katie Ledecky Wins ESPY Award for Best Athlete in Female Sports; Caeleb Dressel Also Wins ESPY

The best swimmer in the world over the past decade has been recognized as the top female athlete in the United States over the past year. At the ESPY Awards held Wednesday evening in Los Angeles, Katie Ledecky received the award for Best Athlete in Female Sports. She was named the honoree over a field of nominees that included Olympic gold medalist gymnast Suni Lee, Paralympic superstar Oksana Masters and WNBA star Candace Parker.
