NCAA Men’s Championships: Texas Dominates 800 Free Relay for New American, NCAA Record

As the Texas Longhorns set out in pursuit of a second consecutive NCAA team championship and a sixth title in the past seven meets, the group got off to a near-perfect start on Wednesday evening. After a close second-place finish to Florida in the 200 medley relay, the team of Drew Kibler, Coby Carrozza, Luke Hobson and Carson Foster put together a championship performance in the 800 freestyle relay.

Swimming World Magazine, as part of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, is seeking a gifted group of writers and content creators for the summer of 2022 who are interested in enhancing their journalism and social media skills, while building valuable experience to add to their resumes. Our successful internship programs have connected interns with jobs in related fields across the country!

Please note this will be a remote internship, and is open to college students and beyond. This program is conducted via email and Slack, meaning all work can be done remotely.

Reka Gyorgy, Bumped out of B Final in 500 Free, Writes Critical Letter to NCAA On Transgender Rules

As the 2022 NCAA Women’s Division I Swimming and Diving Championships have come to a close, more athletes are sharing their opinions on the Lia Thomas situation. Reka Gyorgy of Virginia Tech was directly affected by Thomas participating as she finished 17th in the 500 freestyle and was one spot out of making the consolation final in an event that Thomas won.

Gyorgy wrote an open letter saying she stands with Lia Thomas but blamed the NCAA for the way the institution handled the entire situation, including the rules. She made her wish clear at the beginning of the letter that she wants her full statement released and not parts of it.

The Transition From High School to College Swimming: The Big Jump

When getting ready to graduate from high school to college, swimmers face an inevitable transition period. They have to relearn their daily routines and adjust to a new team and environment. This transition is important and fundamental for all college swimmers. Learning how to prepare and what to expect is something that is not always talked about. Here is my advice for anyone going into this special period of their lives.

Take a Deep Breath!

First and foremost, take a deep breath, and a sigh of relief. You committed! You’re now going to a college team and I am sure they are excited to have you. This deep breath is refreshing and will help you after the stresses of the commitment process and most likely your championship season.
