World Bee Day was celebrated May 20th. This day was designated by the United Nations to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development. We all depend on pollinators and it is crucial to monitor their decline and halt the loss of biodiversity. While World Bee Day has come and gone, there are things we can all do to help the bees! Here are a few easy tips: Plant a diverse set of native plants, which flower at different times of the year. Where possible, avoid pesticides/herbicides in your gardens. Buy 100% Canadian honey. Make a bee water fountain by leaving a water bowl outside. Raise awareness! |
