Soon the weather will cool and the winds will swing around to the southwest to mark the beginning of Djeran (Apr & May), the autumn, season of adulthood. A key sign of the change in season is the return of cool nights and dewy mornings. Djeran is a time of red flowers, especially those of the Red flowering gum (Corymbia ficifolia), or you may notice the red ‘rust’ and seed cones forming on male and female Kwel (Sheoaks).
