As the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market’s 30th anniversary approaches on May 22, we are grateful for what has sustained this beloved San Francisco institution over all of these years: YOU. For three decades, farmers, food makers, and Bay Area residents have come together to create a connected, regenerative, and resilient local food system in this beautiful city—one that nourishes our neighbors and the earth, for generations to come.
In the words of Michelle Kilkenny, a regular Ferry Plaza Farmers Market shopper and member of our Foodwise Sustainers monthly giving program: “Having shopped at the market for the last 20 years and finally, during the pandemic, having the opportunity to volunteer opened my eyes to the impact that Foodwise has on the local community. I enjoy talking to the same families week after week, as well as shopping with the same farmers. The building of these relationships is key to our success as a city.
