Preservationists call ordinance a threat to the Quarter: City Council Member Freddie King has proposed an ordinance that would suspend enforcement of rules regulating the alteration of historic buildings in the French Quarter for a year. City Hall and local preservation groups are aghast at the idea, saying it would a have devastating effect on the heart of the city. Tony MacAuley has the story.
