Serhii, 59, was forced to evacuate from Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, taking only some clothing, a phone and a few personal documents with him. He is now staying at a transit centre supported by UNHCR.

“It was very difficult in Pokrovsk,” says Serhii. “Drones were swarming over the city every day, from morning til late evening. Sometimes there was a two-hour pause and then bombardments started again. It was impossible. I lost everything. I need to start everything from scratch.”
