The situation here on the ground in Ukraine is extremely alarming.
I’m Elisabeth Arnsdorf Haslund, UNHCR Senior Communications Officer in Ukraine. Just last night, I was woken by the sound of sirens. This happens almost every night – drones swirling over Kyiv. You are always thinking: what will happen next, when will the next attack hit?
It’s been over three years of full-scale war. Everyone is affected, especially in frontline areas, where many are left without electricity, gas and water. People are fleeing. People are losing their loved ones and all their belongings.
Supporter, I urge you, please keep Ukraine in your heart and make a tax-deductible donation before 30 June. The war is raging here. Families need every bit of help they can get.
In my role, I travel as often as I can to meet people affected by attacks.
At a shelter in Dnipro, I met a woman named Valentyna. She had fled Luhansk with her 93-year-old mother. Valentyna wasn’t able to bring any photo albums, nothing of her late husband’s. She told me about the grief and sadness she felt. But at the same time, she hoped to one day return home and rebuild her life.
I am amazed and impressed by how Ukrainians like Valentyna remain so strong and, with UNHCR’s assistance, are able to survive. But they urgently need more help.
Supporter, donate now and claim a deduction on your 2024/25 tax return. Your gift can provide Ukrainians like Valentyna with shelter and essential aid.
Every day I see UNHCR’s work first-hand – work that is only possible with help from generous people like you. I see dedicated teams assisting families with home repairs, psychosocial support and cash assistance. I see your donations packed into emergency convoys and delivered to frontline areas.
Thank you for making a difference this tax time. Your donation will help Ukrainians hold on to their hope, strength and determination.
With gratitude,
Elisabeth Arnsdorf Haslund Senior Communications Officer UNHCR Ukraine
P.S. The war is still raging and Ukrainians face relentless attacks. They need every bit of help they can get. Please make your tax-deductible donation right now – you can help save lives and deliver emergency aid.
