That millions of people are looking for a way to oppose capitalism is undeniable. A poll released earlier this week found that in the US fewer than half of young people aged 18-29 have a positive view of capitalism, while more than half have a positive view of socialism. Support for capitalism is falling precipitously, dropping by a stunning 23-percentage points in just eight years.

The growing interest in socialism coincides with the emergence of the class struggle--from teachers, UPS workers and autoworkers in the US, to pilots and airline workers in Europe, to healthcare workers in New Zealand. This year has seen strikes and demonstrations in countless countries all over the world.

During the teachers' strikes in the US earlier this year, the WSWS provided comprehensive coverage--publishing far more articles analyzing the situation than any other publication on the planet. More importantly, we advanced a perspective for workers to fight, a perspective that is winning a growing audience among workers all over the world. As these struggles expand, so must our own activity.

The ruling class is terrified, and it is right to be. It is responding by censoring the Internet, cracking down on opposition, and deploying every means at its disposal to confuse and disorient.
