Biography

I grew up in a family in India that revered nature and instilled in me a lifelong appreciation for it. Art was not my chosen field of study in school, yet it has always been an intrinsic part of my life, perhaps the most sustaining one. While growing up, I found creativity in painting stones, pressing flowers, and drawing birds and flowers. After graduating college with a degree in Economics, I rekindled my passion for art by completing a degree in Textile Designing and Printing, which taught me valuable lessons in the fundamentals of design, color theory, and various mediums of art. I had my work displayed and sold in exhibitions and commissions before my husband and I moved to the US.
The next two decades were busy raising a family and moving several times with my husband's career, both within and outside of the US. With this new nomadic lifestyle, I not only witnessed spectacular panoramas of Mother Nature in its many diverse forms - the icescapes of Alaska, the sand dunes of Egypt, the Scottish Highlands - but also imbibed the magnificent artworks of the masters in world-renowned museums. While living in Scotland, I took courses in porcelain painting which became my medium of choice for the next few years.

Art has been a consistent healer and my salvation in difficult patches of life. In 2013, my husband and I were evacuated from Egypt during the revolution and we spent a full year without our belongings. To make lemonade out of lemons, I bought some art supplies and started on a new journey into Acrylics which soon included Oils. I continue this journey of creativity now in Collegeville, Pennsylvania where I'm discovering new vistas that fuel inspiration for my artwork, as well as archiving beautiful memories onto canvas. I am a lifelong student of art, and continue my education with local classes, online courses and workshops, and memberships of art groups and organizations.

My art is mostly representational, with florals, landscapes, and fauna being my favorite subjects. As Degas said, "Art is not what you see. It's what you make others see" - my constant endeavor is to portray Nature's beauty with my artwork, one brushstroke at a time. I invite you to share my vision and give me the opportunity to create something special for you.
