Happy Sunday, everyone. A word of advice. Whenever you start feeling overwhelmed, or don't know where to start on the path toward the glorious future you envision, stop thinking about the future entirely. The future is still there, in the back of your mind, guiding you, a North Star you need only to glance at every so often to get your bearings. The rest is just moving along the path, step by step. But don't focus on the future. Don't pine over it. Don't worry about it. I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned with the future; I'm saying to sit there and think about it means very little. That's like sitting on the ship gazing at the stars and never going anywhere. I have an incredible amount of faith in the power of the subconscious to keep you on the right path, making the right decisions, taking the necessary steps. It doesn't need to be micromanaged. One foot in front of the other. Scan your environment, your immediate moment, and take the next step. Do the thing that needs doing. Complete the task that presents itself. Fill out the form, make the call, write the email. But also allow whimsy to take over. If you get an urge to explore something, to take this detour, or even to double back, follow it. Let the moment guide you. As long as you have that grand vision, that thing to which you aspire somewhere in the recesses of your mind, you will end up along the correct path. Just keep moving. Keep appreciating the journey. This has been my modus operandi for most of my life. I have goals and big aspirations, but I focus on the day to day and they eventually appear in front of me. I always arrive. What do you think? Do you do this? How do you move through life? Let me know in the comment section of this week's New and Noteworthy (formerly Weekly Link Love). |
