Israeli Pianist Shai Maestro brings his trio to Colorado for the first time!
When it comes to jazz, Israel is a source of a miraculous outpouring of talent. In the past two decades there has been a wave of Israeli influence on the modern jazz scene. The leading pianist in that movement is none other than Shai Maestro.
Since his debut with his own trio in 2011, Shai has shaped a strong and unique personal identity and has portrayed an incredible musical fluidity, making Shai and his trio one of the most powerful and harmonious groups in the jazz today. In 2018, he made his ECM debut with the album "The Dream Thief." His Dazzle appearance marks the first time the music has been toured throughout the US. This appearance is extra special as it will be Shai's first appearance in Colorado.
The weather is unfortunately not going to be on our side for this one. We'd really like to see some more folks out for the late set. With that in mind, we would like to offer you 50% off any ticket type (9pm set only) with the discount code, "bravethestorm"
Absolutely burning trio version of his original tune "Treeology" with Joe Sanders (bass), Ziv Ravits (drums)
As a sideman, Shai Maestro is notable for the time he spent with bassist Avishai Cohen, known for his long-time collaboration with Chick Corea as well as for his successful band-leading career. The bassist called to invite Maestro to join the Avishai Cohen Trio with drummer Mark Guiliana. Maestro recorded four albums with the Avishai Cohen Trio, including two on Blue Note Records: Gently Disturbed (2008), Sensitive Hours (2008), Aurora (2009), and Seven Seas (2011). The trio toured the world and played at some of the world’s most renowned venues and festivals.
The trio made a reunion this year in NYC for several nights at The Blue Note
Today, Shai is highly active in the NYC jazz scene, and can be found playing with just about everyone.
