Yassou from Athens! I hope you're having a great weekend! If you're new here, this is our weekly round-up of the daily travel tips I shared throughout the week.
If you receive my Daily Travel Tip newsletter, then you know that I've been bouncing around Southern Europe this past week with my family. In the last seven days, we've been to Sicily, Crete, Istanbul, Mykonos and Athens. Not too shabby eh? I will be writing about everything, including our experience aboard Sun Princess (pictured below), which took us to all these amazing places safely, smoothly and comfortably. The best part was that we didn't have to keep packing or unpacking.
There's a lot to share about the cruise, including the fact that on this ship, they don't have an open buffet, rather servers behind glass putting food on plates. This minimizes overeating and most importantly, the spread of diseases like Norovirus. There's a lot of travel news this week so scroll down for a recap of the most important stories and my travel tips. Surprisingly, the most popular story this week was a tip about showering after a long flight. Scroll down to Tuesday to read it. |

🧭 Travel Product of the Week Tide Laundry Stain Remover Spray with Oxi We usually travel with Tide To-Go sticks and they're handy for very small stains but fortunately, on this trip, my wife packed a bottle of this Tide Laundry Stain Remover and are we glad we had it. It saved three articles of clothing that otherwise would have been ruined. The first two times we needed it was to remove tomato sauce stains from my son's shirt and shorts. The third time was to remove an oil-based salad dressing stain from a new shirt I've only worn a handful of times. All three times, my wife soaked the stains for 2-3 minutes, then hand-washed the clothes in the sink. Each stain came out completely so we'll always have one of these in our suitcase when we travel from now on. Buy here.
EverSnug Travel Blanket Planes can be cold but there's no reason to suffer for your entire flight. This travel blanket is soft, cozy and warm (not to mention cleaner than airline blankets ... if you even get one), and packs up quickly and easily in its own carrying case. This is one accessory my wife and I use all the time when we fly and made us wonder what took us so long to buy travel blankets. Read why we love it here and buy here. ✅ Apple AirTags: Snag a four-pack for $74.99 or a single one for $22.98 ✅ Mini rolls of gaffer tape ($13.88) ✅ $7.14 for 10-pack lithium coin batteries ✅ 15% off ($8.49): 6-Foot Surge Protector Power Strip ✅ 38% off ($9.95) RFID blocking money belt ✅ $9.99 for portable digital luggage scale: Buy here |

🧳 Monday 4 Savvy Ways to Save Over $100 on Overweight Baggage Fees When you’re traveling, the best way to save money and, more importantly, time, is to travel with carry-on bags only. The less you carry and the lighter your bags are, the more you will save. However, I realize that not everyone can travel light, including myself. Here's how to save money. |

🚿 Tuesday Why You Should Avoid Taking a Hot Shower After a Flight and What to Do Instead The first thing I do when I get home or arrive at my hotel after a flight is take off my dirty airplane clothes (throw them in the wash if I'm home), and hop in a hot, hot shower. But apparently, a hot shower after a flight isn't the best idea. Here's why and what to do instead. |

🆘 Wednesday 911 is Not Universal: Here's How to Reach Emergency Services When Traveling Ask a frequent traveler what their number one travel tip is and they will most likely tell you to be prepared for anything and to have a back-up plan. 🕶️ Thursday The Sunglasses That Turn Me Into James Bond on My Travels Several friends and readers have commented on my new sunglasses. They’re actually not that new; I received them last summer as a gift (thanks, Nicole!). But I only just started wearing them regularly, which I realize now was a mistake because of all that they can do. Here's what you need to know. |

💤 Friday How to Conquer Jet Lag Over my two decades of traveling nonstop and visiting more than 75 countries, I've learned a trick or two about dealing with jet lag. I’ve come to the conclusion that everyone is different and the best way to combat jet lag really depends on the person. Since many of you are going to be taking international trips this summer, I thought I'd share some advice to help. Here's what works for me. |

The Tool That Makes Me Look Way Handier Than I Really Am Father's Day was last week and if you're looking to buy something useful (that's what dads like) I have a great gift idea for you. If you read the whole fiasco about our washing machine breaking then you probably know that the main tool I used to fix it was this rechargeable electric screwdriver. When my wife bought it for me last Father's Day, I thought it was a waste of money since ... what's wrong with a regular screwdriver? But then I tried it and was immediately hooked. It has a light at the tip to help you see what you're doing and 12 interchangeable heads including different size Philips, Hex and a flathead. And it's currently 33% off. Here's more.
34% off Anker 5-in-1 hub A hub like this is an essential when I travel. It streamlines my chargers and is an excellent travel companion. It's got a 4K HDMI port, USB-C and USB-A data ports and a 100W PD-IN port for pass-through charging. Regularly $34.99, it's currently 34% off for $22.99 for a limited time. Buy here.
Travel Umbrellas Spring has most definitely sprung! I have written in the past about how a travel umbrella can make or break your trip and earlier this week, WIRED released their picks for the top travel umbrellas. After testing a range of options, they declared the Weatherman Travel Umbrella (pictured left) the overall winner and the Prostorm Windproof Vented Travel Umbrella (pictured right), the best budget umbrella.
This mini pocket umbrella is also a great, compact option and is currently just $11.99 (37% off). |
