What you need to know Brian King and Phil Lyman teamed up for an ad criticizing Gov. Cox. âNow, Phil and I disagree better about most issues,â King says at the beginning of the 30-second ad. But, they say in unison, âthe biggest thing the two of us agree on is that Spencer Cox should not be our next governor.â Reaction was mixed, at best. âWe condemn Phil Lymanâs endorsement and promotion of Brian King," GOP chair Rob Axson said. | | News Releases Utah earns national recognition for innovative support of future teachers The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is getting recognition this week from the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ) for its pioneering efforts in supporting aspiring teachers as they complete their clinical practice experiences, also known as student teaching. The Utah case study, featured in NCTQâs new Clinical Practice Action Guide, details how the state addressed financial barriers to student teaching that were keeping many aspiring teachers out of the profession. Earlier this year, the state passed HB 221 with unanimous support, offering $6,000 stipends for aspiring teachers completing their student teaching experience.
