A line of storms passing the Lake Charles right now has already produced tornadoes, and the bad weather is expected to reach the Baton Rouge area at mid-afternoon. If you have things planned for this afternoon and evening, note there have been a number of cancellations already. We're keeping an updated list here.
In other news, East Baton Rouge is putting trucks on the streets and an airplane in the sky to combat an especially nasty breed of mosquito. In one night, the city-parish's pest control program nabbed 6,500 mosquitoes in a trap in the southeastern part of the parish. Terry Jones reports.

And a judge has rejected an effort by the East Baton Rouge Parish district attorney's office to hold two separate trials for a man accused of killing a BRPD and another man. The killings took place hours apart. Prosecutors fear some witnesses won't cooperate. |
