Troubling trend

Louisiana Department of Health data show a stretch of deaths from COVID-19 continuing unabated in Livingston Parish for 27 consecutive reporting days dating back to Aug. 5.

It’s the second-longest such streak in the Baton Rouge region during Louisiana’s worst-yet wave of the coronavirus.

Rain again

Nicholas dwindled from hurricane-force to a tropical depression by the time he approached the capital region, but the rainfall on already soaked ground inundated many streets in Baton Rouge with flooding.
