Happy Friday, and welcome to the Sept. 20 edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. We are two days away from the Saints' big game in the Dome against the Philadelphia Eagles. The building will most certainly be rocking. Here’s a look at all the news we have for you today. Hurts so goodThe Saints have had their struggles with mobile quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts of the Eagles. What will the Saints do to make sure that trend doesn’t continue? Beat writer Matthew Paras dives into how the Saints may try to slow down Hurts and the Eagles’ potent rushing attack. A look at the other headlines from Thursday: • Did you like Derek Carr's Michael Jackson celebration after he rushed for a touchdown Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys? Well, the NFL apparently didn’t. Here’s the punishment Carr received. • The Saints got some good news Thursday. A key player returned to practice. Click here to see who it was and to also see the rest of Thursday’s injury report. • Ok. I promise I’m not making this up. FEMA accidentally declared a “Major Disaster” for Texas after the Saints’ dismantling of the Cowboys. Here’s the story behind the strange but true mistake. • Speaking of the Cowboys... You probably saw the videos of the second-line parades outside of AT&T Stadium after the game. Our Doug McCash wrote about how that postgame celebration came about. • Saints offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz wasn’t sure why his cell phone was buzzing like it was when he got back to the locker room. It was because of how fast Ruiz was running on one of Alvin Kamara’s touchdowns. We caught up with Ruiz about hitting a speed that no other o-linemen in the league has reached this season. That’s all for today, although we will be recording another episode of our Saints’ Insider podcast this morning. Be sure you’re subscribed to the YouTube page to see our breakdown of Sunday’s game. Also, check www.nola.com throughout the day for more updates. As always, thanks for reading. Enjoy your weekend. Rod Walker |
