Hey golfers, Next week, I’ll represent the United States and make my Ryder Cup debut in Rome. I always thought I was good enough to win majors and play in Ryder Cups, but every year that I didn’t play to my potential, that belief dwindled. Everything has changed this year. I’ve finally lived up to my own expectations, winning at Wells Fargo and then the U.S. Open. I made some important mental changes, which are the focus of my Golf Digest cover story. Truthfully, I used to be a bit of a hothead on the course. I’ve worked hard with my sports psychologist, and I have a much more positive mindset. The next shot can always be great. With my swing, I used to worry too much about my technique. Now, I keep it as simple as possible. If I’m hitting big fades, I’ll practice hitting some draws. If I’m hooking the ball, I’ll hit a few fades. This approach has helped me stop playing golf swing and start playing golf. I’ll show you how to do it in this issue of Golf Digest. I can’t wait to get to Rome and help the American team win on European soil for the first time in three decades. We’re due for a breakthrough—like I had this year. Go USA, Wyndham |
