U.S. equity markets slid Thursday after initial jobless claims showed nearly 3 million more Americans lost work last week. Â The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 238Â points, or 1.03Â percent, in the opening minutes of trading while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.01 percent and 0.85 percent, respectively.
